How We Evaluate
Rbay Finds is an independent publication, not a product feed. Every product on this site earned its place by clearing the same bar — and every review tells you where it fell short, not just where it shines.
How we find products
We start with taste, not trends. A product has to pass most of four tests before we even look at its reviews:
- Photo test — would you photograph it?
- Gift test — would you give it to someone?
- Show-a-friend test — would you bring it up unprompted?
- Want-not-need test — do you want it even though nothing in your life requires it?
Some categories never make the cut, no matter how popular: fixtures, obligation or maintenance buys, utility gear, and pet-care essentials. If it feels like a chore to own, it is not a Rbay Find.
The bar every pick must clear
- A strong buyer track record. As a rule we require a 4.4-star-or-better average from real buyers. If a rating cannot be verified from any trustworthy source, we say so in the review rather than stating a number we did not check.
- A real, available product. No vaporware, no crowdfunding concepts, no listings with signs of review manipulation.
- Honest tradeoffs. We mine critical reviews and unanswered buyer questions — the complaints in 3-star reviews are often the most useful information a buyer can get — and we turn them into the “catch” section of every review. If a product has a real weakness, you will read about it here first.
Researched, not hands-on
Unless an article says otherwise, Rbay Finds has not purchased or first-hand tested the product. Our reviews are researched and curated: we compare listings, read buyer reviews across sources, and check the manufacturer’s own claims. We never invent test results, ratings, or quotes, and we never present a researched review as a hands-on one.
What every review covers
- A plain verdict up front, including who should skip it
- What the product actually does
- What we like about it
- The catch — the real tradeoffs, from real buyers
- Who it is for, and who should pass
- Price, in one place only, and clearly marked as approximate
- Three alternatives, so you can compare before you buy
- A short FAQ answering the questions buyers actually ask
Buying guides follow the same method, with one addition: each pick is labeled by use case (“Best for…”), and every guide carries a “Last updated” line. Guides are re-verified in periodic refresh audits; when a pick’s price, availability, or rating has materially changed, the guide says so.
Prices and availability
Prices shown on this site are approximate and may change — the price at checkout is the one that counts. Availability can change too, especially for small-batch or seasonal products. If a link stops working, tell us through the Contact page and we will fix it.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy through them, Rbay Finds may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence which products we pick, what we say about them, or the order they appear in. No seller can pay for placement, a better verdict, or a removed criticism. Full details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error in a review or a guide — a wrong price, a wrong spec, a product that has changed — tell us through the Contact page and we will correct it. Corrections that change a recommendation are noted on the page.
What we will never do
- Accept payment for a review, a verdict, or a placement
- Publish a rating, test result, or testimonial we did not verify
- Present a researched review as hands-on testing
- Recommend a product we would not show a friend
